This is an original, Italian movie poster from 1966 for a theatrical re-release of King Kong (1933) starring Fay Wray, Robert Armstrong, Bruce Cabot, Frank Reicher, and Sam Hardy. Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack directed the classic film. Renato Casaro is the artist for the poster.
Referred to in Italy as a 4 Fogli, the poster was printed in two sections that are designed to overlap. It measures 55” x 78” and is in good to very good condition with a few two tears (with paper loss) along the top edge of the poster. There are several staple/pinholes around the edges from theatrical display. There is some surface wear and a small tear in the bottom edge. The poster was folded at the time of printing. Most folds flatten out nicely for framing and are often desirable for vintage, collectible movie posters. There are small separations at some of the cross-folds.
Please look closely at the photos (this is the exact poster you are buying and not a stock photo). The black squares in the corners of the poster are magnets and not pins.
This extremely rare and collectible poster, printed in 1966 to promote an Italian theatrical re-release of King Kong, is not a reproduction or a reprint.
